Fall Curbside Leaf Collection

The City of Cedarburg provides curbside leaf pickup during the months of October and November. Residents may rake their leaves into the gutter only during these two months, and the last scheduled pickup is the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. After Thanksgiving weekend, City crews will attempt to sweep the streets one last time, but the leaf brooms are switched over to snow plow blades, and any leaf piles placed out after Thanksgiving will not be picked up by City crews.

Residents also should not place any branches, brush, potted plants, or grass clippings in the gutter with the leaves. Grass clippings will simply be smeared on the pavement and will not be picked up by the coarse leaf brooms. The remaining residue will make the pavement slippery and will wash into the storm drains, ultimately polluting Cedar Creek.

Curbside brush pickup is scheduled for the first full week of each month from April to October. So after October 7th there is no curbside brush pickup until April of the following year. Brush placed in with the leaves gets caught in the brooms, and slows the leaf collection operation. Public Works crews are therefore directed to skip any brush piles present during leaf pickup operations.

Residents do have the option of purchasing an access card to the City Yard Waste Facility at W59 N306 Johnson Avenue. For a one-time $30 fee, residents can drop off yard waste, leaves, brush, cardboard, waste oil, car batteries, and anti-freeze from 7:00am to 7:00pm every day of the week except Tuesday, year-round. The access cards may be purchased at City Hall.
