Elections / Voting

2010 Elections:   February 16, April 6, September 14 and November 2. 

379 absentee ballots were issued for the April 6, 2010 Spring Election. 277 absentee ballots were returned.  9 absentee ballots were mailed to military voters.  0 absentee ballots were returned by  military voters. 

All Elections are held at the Community Center Gym, W63 N643 Washington Avenue.  Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
 

Register to Vote                 United States Flag     

 

Effective January 1, 2003, there is a NEW requirement to register to vote.  A Drivers License Number must be included on the registration application.  If you do not have a Drivers License, you may enter the last four digits of your Social Security Number or your Wisconsin state ID card number.  YOUR REGISTRATION CANNOT BE PROCESSED UNTIL THIS INFORMATION IS PROVIDED.  If you have neither a Drivers License, a Social Security Card, or a Wisconsin state ID card number, you must mark the circle on the Voter Registration Application attesting that you have neither.

BY MAIL: 

Fill out on line or download the Application for Voter Registration (EB-131), complete the form and mail it to City Clerk, P.O. Box 49, Cedarburg, WI 53012 up to 5 p.m. on the 20th day before the election.  If you are registering to vote in Wisconsin for the first time, a copy of acceptable proof of residence must be sent. (See list below).  If proof of residence is not sent, it must be provided at the polls before you are permitted to cast a ballot.

 

IN PERSON: 

Clerk's Office, City Hall, W63 N645 Washington Avenue, 7:30 - 4:30 p.m. (open until 5 p.m. on the Thursday, Friday and Monday before election)
Cedarburg Public Library, W63 N583 Hanover Avenue until the third Wednesday prior to the Election.  You must provide proof of residence with your current name and address as listed below.

 

AT THE POLLING PLACE ON ELECTION DAY: 

You must bring proof of residence with your current name and address as listed below. 

 

PROOF OF RESIDENCE

 

The following constitute acceptable proof of residence if the document contains the elector's current and complete name and current and complete residential address:

  1. Current and valid WI driver's license issued by the DOT.

  2. Current and valid Wisconsin ID card issued by the DOT.

  3. Any other official ID card or license issued by a Wisconsin governmental body or unit.

  4. ID card issued by an employer in the normal course of business and bearing a photo of the card holder, but not including a business card.

  5. Real estate tax bill or receipt for current year or the year preceding the date of the election.

  6. Residential lease which is effective for a period that includes election day (NOT for first-time voters registering by mail).

  7. University, college or technical institute fee card (must include photo).

  8. University, college or technical institute ID card (must include photo).

  9. Gas, electric or telephone service statement (utility bill) for period commencing not earlier than 90 days before election day.

  10. Bank statement.

  11. Pay check.

  12. Check or other document issued by unit of government.

 

Request for an Absentee Ballot

Absentee Ballot Request Form
You must be a registered voter to vote absentee.  To request an absentee ballot from the City Clerk's Office, please fill out on line or download the Absentee Ballot Request form and mail it to: City Clerk, PO Box 49, Cedarburg, WI 53012.  Note:  The form must have a signature.  A written request for an Absentee Ballot must be received in the City Clerk's Office by 5 p.m. on the Thursday before the Election.

Requests may also be faxed to (262) 375-7906 or e-mailed (must include digitalized signature) to cityhall@ci.cedarburg.wi.us with a hard copy to follow by mail postmarked the date the fax or e-mail was sent. 

Upon receipt of your application form, a ballot will be mailed to you with return postage included.  Ballots cannot be hand carried out of the City Clerk's Office.

 

Absentee voting is also available in the City Clerk's Office weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  On the Thursday, Friday and Monday before Election Day, hours are extended until 5:00 p.m.

 

Military Absentee Ballots
Complete Federal Post Card application (FPCA) to request an absentee ballot.  Military electors are not required to register.  Submit FPCA or completed Application for Absentee Ballot (EB-121) (link to copy above), or mail, fax or e-mail a letter requesting an absentee ballot including an original signature of voter, city address, and mailing address.  Military electors may receive a ballot for all offices on a ballot.

 

Overseas Absentee Ballots

Complete Federal Post Card application (FPCA) to request an absentee ballot and to register or you may send a letter requesting an absentee ballot including an original signature of voter, city address, and mailing address.  If you are not registered, you must also submit a voter registration application EB-131 (link to copy above).  Overseas electors receive ballots for federal offices only.  An absentee ballot request from an overseas elector is effective for two successive general elections.
 

Election Inspector 

Would you like to work as an Election Inspector?  The election workday is from 6:30 a.m. to approximately 9:00 p.m., but if you can work only half a day, we still need you!  Election Inspectors are trained by city staff, paid $80 for the day and provided with a continental breakfast and full supper.  Must be a resident of the City of Cedarburg.
